i bought the car used in canada..... so i have no idea if its stock or not.... it seems stock.... the remote has the toyota logo but it only has 2 buttons ... [top and bottom]. The top button does all the lock and unlock... the second button has no fuction.... inside the car, the security light is located beside the cig lighter. (not in the dashboard)
i've disassebled everything before and it looks stock. i really want to fix this because i've changed all my bulbs to ultra white and it would look a lot nicer when my piaa bulbs blinks agen wen i arm/disarm my alarm. :)
help anyone ?

I had this happen before too on my gf's old honda civic, it used to flash and honk when the alarm is armed. Then it didn't, we took it to the dealership and 5 hours later, they said "It's in Valet mode". They charged us $30 USD plus taxes and then we were on our way to the Toyota dealership to trade in her Honda and never deal with the Honda dealership again.

Long story short; your car is in Valet Mode so everything is quiet, I don't know how you or someone else got it into that Mode but at the same time I don't know how to get you back into your normal alarm mode either...

I'm sorry...but I'm sure someone here can help you, especially someone with the repair manual. But I'm sure it's nothing more than a few clicks of the key and a door switch or something. There's probably a button under the steering column as well...I never dealt with that issue in the Solara.

This is actually my first time owning a vehicle with an alarm system so as you can probably imagine, I'm still hyping about the "luxuries" of keyless entry.

EDIT: http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/alarminfo/alarminfo.htm#passivearmingandvaletmode

That's what I managed to pull up on google, it's reference to the RS3000/RS3200 systems, it looks similar to yours just with the addition of the small red LED.

here's a look at it http://www.keylessremotesforless.com/Toyota.htm That's really all I can dig up without spending more time on the search, I'm sure you can find the exact answer sooner or later.

Sorry.

do your parking lights work normally? (from the switch)

if so, then the alarm's connection to the OEM parking lights is bad, or the alarm's parking light fuse is broken.
