Speed Denometer or transmission?

Speed Denometer or transmission?

Postby Hakuma2 » Mon May 21, 2007 2:57 pm

So I was driving on a freeway going 75 mph with cruise control on. I had my foot off the paddle and suddenly the cruise control died. I didn't brake or touch anything. The speed denometer was slowing down and went from 70 down to around 50 quick and went back up, down, and up. After that it was okay. The next day i was driving on the freeway again without cruise control. I was going about 70 and it did the same thing again. This was about 2 weeks ago and it hasn't happened again since. Do you think this is something serious or just like a one time problem thing? Do I need to get that checked out? Thanks...

Were you sure to keep it in 5th gear (e.g. did it happen when you downshifted)? I heard that happens when it's not.

Sorry I should've mentioned...No, My car is automatic so I had the gear in "D" the whole time. And the weird thing is that the day i post up this Thread, it happened again! this time I was driving around 70 mph and the speed denometer dropped quickly from 70 straight down to 0...then back up to 70 again... it did that a couple of times and then the check light came on...do you know what's wrong with it? or I should just take it in to the dealers...

^^Oh, almost sounded like a manual issue. You might need to go and get the code for the check engine light pulled.
