I have a '99 SE V6 with no preformance mods it has 71,200 miles and it runs very good so far  i take care of it, oil is changed every 3000-4000 miles. i was wondering how far it could go? should i start moding it now or is it a waste of money? it already has 71K miles..

It all depends on how much hands on maint you are? most of the toyota's that outlast 200K miles are by owners who do their own maint. usually, people who don't do their own maint, sell their car by 140-160K miles...

its depend on your luck and your mechanic. if your mechanic is an idiot, i would say your solara will have same life span as a kia

If you drive your car like a street racer all the time, very likely your car will not last long either.

however, i see people who take care of their car rigiously and the car last over 280k miles without major problems.

My wife's 1MZ is @ almost 180k, and is still so quiet sometimes she tries to start it twice. Toyota four cylinders are generally good for more than 200k, in fact my parents traded in a '93 Camry w/ over 275k. I have generally maintained them, so I guess the maintenance has been, and is, somewhat better than average. Toyota’s are IMHO some of the most durable vehicles available.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

no secret... you just gotta take care of your car. I do the oil changes every 2500 miles. change the trans oil every 10k miles.

I am also on my Original Engine and Tranny.
The Camry 2.2 5s-fe engine will last a long time.

We've changed the Clutch, Timing, Water pump and all other major service on time.

We are about to hit 280k soon.. I think this engine will last about 350k no problem.

My dads last car. a 1988 Toyta Van had 415k on it before it died. Also all on original tranny and engine...

I change the engine oil on my car every 4000 miles, I put about 6,000 miles on it a year and it currently reads 12,810 on the odometer.

If I don't mash the gas pedal too often and do maintenance when I am supposed to, I expect my car to last at least 300K.

Toyota cars are known for their reliability, thats why so many people buy them.
