My new 2002 baby
just bought a new solara and loving it. I was told not to drive fast with for the first 1000 miles. Is that true? and 2nd, what is fast?

SteveB wrote:If you don't break a car in correctly Missay, you'll have problems... not necessarily mechanical ones either... you'll be "marked" by the police and you'll be getting pulled over for 2 mph over the speed limit, yellow lights will be shorter (& red ones longer), when there's road construction ahead the lane you're in will ALWAYS be the slowest, accidents will occur ahead of you rather than behind, often the brake lights on the car in front of you won't be working, there'll be more uphill roads than downhill, "little old ladies" will seem to go out of their way to be the car in front of you, other drivers will fail to use their turn signals... etc.
So, you see. breaking in an engine correctly is crucial to a car's "destiny" - not to mention the overall "driving experience" of its owner.
