That was my next idea...but earlier this afternoon after some research I just decided to call the parts department and if i want to replace the motor it is $460 which is also outrageous. The only thing is i want to find a seat in decent shape or if not can i find a motor from a salvage yard that works. (probably) THERES SO MUCH TO DO NOW!

For the best part price, PM Reggie (NVDIS1). He works at a Toyota Parts Dept. He should be able to give you the best possible price. However, be absolutely sure that the motor ain't working first.

FYI... (not to piss you off FURTHER!) but the SEAT MOTOR is generally between $12.00 and $19.00 for the motor component alone, depending on whether it has a "Hall Effect" circuit for the memory function or not. (Seat manufacturer pricing.)

Also, the motor is USUALLY designed with a captured gear transmission in the end cap, and not just a simple "pop out/pop in" ordeal. (I'm speaking seat motors in general... not specifically the 'lara, which MAY be a little different. I'm most familiar with the Honda seats...)

G/L!

It is often VERY difficult to repair a damaged motor in a seat, wow is it that hard to take it apart?

May I suggest a redneck solution!? unbolt the seat (leave the wires attatched) tilt it back (while having someone hold the button down) and smack the motor with a ratchet or very small hammer and see if the brushes in the motor were just stuck.
If it works *YAY* if not at least it was free. Note: sometimes you have to hit them pretty hard or just in the right spot to free up stuck brushes
