SO, solara90, it can get worse!

I had a car which booster (along with the braking system) went while I was decelerating into a toll booth at 60mph. Back then, there was no ezPass or similar system. Its wasn't not pretty back then nor will it ever be pretty

I have two good brake boosters if anyone is interested, the boosters are from the many engine swaps I've done. Both off of 1mzfe. Actually I have lots of parts for left over. Sorry for the thread jacking, I post in the f/s section.

Hey guys. I had this problem a year or so ago. Took it to mechanic who said the booster needed replaced, but there was nothing wrong with the booster. All you have to do is take the booster off and there is a cheap gasket between the booster and the firewall. That is all that needs replaced. It is where the air is leaking. Search the forums. Total cost is about $3 for a gasket kit and cut it out yourself. Problem solved... No more hissing sound!!

sorry but that wont fix a leaking booster if it has gone bad it is leaking on the inside.the gaskets that are in place are not there to hold pressure they are there to keep moisture out

Its just one of the things to try before change the booster...better to rule it out before purchasing the part.

After installing my Injen intake I always hear a sucking/whiney noise upon hard acceleration, I think it's my supercharger

Sucking intake, but I always thought that whine comes from my manual transmission (1st gear only).

G-Money... 4/5 times it is not going to be your brake booster that goes bad. Mine is fine and I have 150K miles. Just take it off, it is pretty easy. The gasket they used here is paper think and will be all wrinkled up. Replace that. Guess how I know it will work..... Oh yea, because I had the exact same hissing sound, mechanic said power booster needs replaced and I fixed it by just replacing the gasket between the booster and the master cylinder. This has been discussed over the last few years.

It would hiss while the car was on if I was stopped with the brake depressed and with the car off, it would hiss til the booster was empty.
