From my understanding, the dual piston caliper gives more ad surface area on the rotor, hence more stopping power.
Dual pistons allow even abrasion points on the brake pad, therefore allowing the brake pad to work more efficiently, the fact that Toyota made the move to single piston during a generation leap, doesn't mean its better.
