Changing the rear ABS Sensor... Is it a DIY?

Postby bronzemaxell » Wed Nov 28, 2007 4:33 pm

i never replace the acutator, but i've replaced master cylinder before, it needed to be bled well, make sure it is air free, by pumping the brake,

i think the actuator also connected to brake line, i was told dealer has the handheld device to force actuator open and close the valve allow fluid to be bled. but i am not sure what is the proper way to bleed an actuator.

if the ABS light on after changing the suspension, higher chance it is the wheel speed sensor fault, just make sure wirings and connectors ok.

i got mine OEM from dealer new for $110 each, and solved my ABS light problem, if you get yours from grave yard, maybe who ever removed it has damaged it internally already. my dad told me his friend went to junk yard, looked for ABS sensor, unless he swap the whole thing with abs sensor, rotor, wheel bearing, etc, attached, it is almost impossible to remove abs sesor alone without damaging the sensor.

Well the ABS actuator is that silver box on the left side of the engine bay.
That part is about $1000 for a unit.
To replace the ABS actuator i would suggest takin' to a pro....
