Good First Car?

Think of it this way; as a new driver, accidents are a reality so what's better in this case, a car you don't give a rat's ass about (i.e. the kind where you can piss on or play shopping cart football with for a good laugh), or the E30 where you'd get horribly pissed off when some 400-pound fat bitch opens her door all the way and makes a 1/32" barely noticeable nick on the door?

very good point. Thats y i might just keep my piece of crap jetta.

How long have you had the Jetta for? If it's been a bit over a year and you know what you're doing behind the wheel (but of course don't get over-confident), you can still get the Solara if you're interested...

Don't let me discourage you from upgrading your car if that's what you want; I said what I did because up until your last post, you were phrasing it as if you've never owned/operated a car before; I would've been much more lenient in my wordings if it wasn't for that :D... And of course I knew this yuppie kid from high school that wrecked a brand new Evo VII after less than a month of getting it AND passing his driver's test (it was his dream car that was a present from his RICH folks); I had to talk him out of suicide the night the incident happened.

depend on what are you looking for as the first car.

the advantage for toyota are reliable, not thieve magnetic like hondas. but not fun enough

the advantage for honda are fun, super thieve magnetic

the advantage for european cars, are fun, safe, you dont really learn much on the car because most of things requires special tools and expensive to messing with. most of them have many electrical problems.

the advantage for nissan are fun, powerful, but feel cheap and not as reliable as honda or toyota.

I think the Solara is a bit tougher to handle than other cars, b/c of visibility issues (larger blind spots), larger cowl, it could get out of your hands pretty quick (it's kinda spartan). But very reliable. I don't recommend this car as one to learn on.

I had a Jetta too which I slammed into a tree with. After that incident and fixing it back up, I learned how to drive
