Can I debadge?

Can I debadge?

Postby St.Anton » Thu Jul 07, 2011 1:52 am

I just got a 01 Solara and I wanna debadge it. Would that leave the Solara and T stuck in the paint or could I buff it all away?

Any input is appreciated 8)

Comes right off. You might need to add in some extra elbow grease to get rid of any tan lines.

yeah just like sdea said: floss or fishing line and hair dryer
and pick up some goo gone at your local auto part store or wherever to get rid of the sticky residue that will be left over from removing the badge!

Thanks for the responses!

Yeah I knew about the fishing line and goo gone. I was more concerned with the tan lines since the paint is so old. Glad to hear it's not a problem tho.

So I tried to take a picture today but It won't seem to show up as clearly as I thought.
However it's really evident in person since the whole outline of the word "solara" is there
I will try again tomorrow when my brother returns my digital camera to see if it can capture what I'm talking about!

Sorry for the wait btw :/

^^^ when i took my emblems off it didnt look that bad. i could just barely make out a faint shadow, but if i wasnt looking for it would never notice it, and thats without any buffing. maybe the shadow is worse on a red car? mine is silver and i have no regrets after taking the emblems off. and if for some crazy reason yours has tan lines that you cant get rid of and you cant stand it, then simply put the emblems back on. this is not a difficult task, you should just go ahead and remove them.

Lol naw buffing it might've removed it but I don't have one.
I just used meguiar's ultimate compound and elbow grease to get whatever I can get off but to no avail :(
Might sand it and then buff it if I get one

But yeah might be because my car is red but yeah no regrets it's just the small details i'm picky of

I debadged my black solara. I only took off the toyota letters and the solara letters. I kept the toyota emblem cuz i think i looks good with just that. You can barely see the tan lines but not really noticable. I didnt really do anything to make it go away just rolled the adhesive off with a wet towel after i had taken the emblems off.
