Solara Mileage Storage Location?

Solara Mileage Storage Location?

Hi guys, I need help with a quick question. Long story short I bought a 2001 Solara today. I was told it had 112k miles on it during negotiations and closed the deal based on this information and what the odometer said. I got a call on the way home from the dealership saying I needed to come back and sign a paper saying the mileage is incorrect because the instrument cluster had been changed out. I'm pretty upset over the whole matter and will most likely return the car tomorrow based on false representation (I haven't gone back and signed the paper yet).

My question is, does the solara store its miles on the instrument cluster or on the ECU? Thank you very much for helping a newbie in distress.
