was wondering if maybe my car has heated (leather) seats, but not sure if it does. are there any buttons supposed to be present when seat heaters are installed? where would they be?

I think, seat heaters were optional for '02 solara sle (coupe) model, but how do I know if this one have it or not?

gotcha :)

unfortunately mine doesn't have any buttons for sweet ass warm up on those lovely leather seats ... so I will keep freezing mine off in mornings ;)

was wondering, because I have the fuse for it, 20A Seat Heater behind the coin drawer ... but yeah no buttons on center console, so probably no wiring (or maybe this one is there) and no heater mats in seats ...

also checked with dealer by VIN and they say "no" as well ... oh well at least I tried :)

This is company. 20+ installations and no problems to date.

http://www.heatedseatkits.com/
The website has a pretty good pdf on how to do it.

You need to buy are hog clips and pliers like this. These are really poor pliers but you will only have to do 20 (10x2).

http://cgi.ebay.com/HOG-RING-PLIERS-100 ... 336403acd2

You will also need something like this to draw for power.

http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-FHA200 ... 42&sr=8-12

A 20 mm drill bit for the switch holes. DON'T cheap out and find what you think is imperial equivalent.
A soldering iron, solder and heat shrink for the wires.
Wire cutter to snip off the odd hog clips
12 or 10 mm socket to remove the seats (can't remember the exact sizes) and to separate the bottom seat from the rail
phillips screw driver to pull the plastic covers off.
silicone spray to help slide the covers back on
about 2 hours to do the first seat 1 hour to do the second (it takes me 60 minutes to do both)
a cold wobbly pop to sip as you ass gets nice and toasty as you admire your work.

I run the one wire down the console and then left and right I used a bolt from the hand brake as a ground.

thanks dug320!

i have to think about it. I see it's not that expensive around $180 (promotion) for 2 seats is not a bad option.

Hi guys, I've been searching for an old post on heated seat install but cant find it. I have a 2001 sle hardtop and would like to install "factory" heated seats. Seems only the gen 1.5 and up have them (2002, 2003). Since I have the fuse location in the fuse box does anyone know if the wiring is in place that I could just buy some 2003 seats and switches, cut a hole in the center console and voilla-heated seats? I like to keep everything factory, 16 years as a mechanic I like to avoid wires hanging everywhere. If you know where this old post is could you direct me there? or let me know if there is factory wiring in place. Thanks. Dan.

The pic above is accurate, thats where the individual switches go. Only the 2002 (optional) & 2003 (stock) SLE models came with heated seats. I love my seats! If you guys could get your hands on a set of these seats, go for it. They get really hot if you leave them on for a while. As a side note, its always fun to turn the heated seats on your lady passengers, usually clothes starts coming off lol.
