Recommendations for summer tires

going to need a set of tires for this summer. wondering how wide you can go with 18" wheels and what brand and model tires others are using. they will be for summer use only and no track use, but looking for a performance minded tire.

I run 225/40/18 Sumotomo HTR Z III, came out in 2009. Awesome tire and pretty cheap. They are also extra load tires, so they carry the solara weight well. I use them only in the summer, i got winters on the stocks.

No doubt about it the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec is the best Summer Performance tire out there. Read reviews anywhere. I am not sure what tire size is optimum for your car, or what size wheels you have. I would check into these tires more if you want serious wet/dry GRIP.

Another tires in close competition (few say it's better) is the Bridgestone Potenza RE-11. I would suggest this tire next if the Dunlop is not made in a compatible size.

I should mention that I have no experience with either tire I recommended, but have just done a lot of research lately because I will be buying rims in the spring. I will concur with the KDW's being an awesome tire! I have owned KDW's on 2 vehicles. They STICK and and great hook up on wet surfaces as well! if you don't get them off by your first snow....FORGET IT. you aren't moving anywhere! :) I have also heard the above mentioned Falken FK 452 are very good for the price!

I'm on my second set of Falken Azenis. I doubt there are many other tires short of an "R" compound with this much grip for the price. Discount Tire had a sale, I was well under $500 out the door for 4 225/45/17's

Falken RT-615 is a popular choice. I would recommend it. Also the 452's seem good. I like pretty much all the Bridgestone performance tires, and the more expensive Kumhos are good, don't buy the cheap Kumhos though. Avoid Goodyear all togther, they're not worth the price.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
