So I went to a good friend/mechanic's garage with the Lara. I told him about my transmission problems ive been experiencing for quite some time. He told me it could possibly be my speed sensor is bad. I know its only a $40 part, but wanted to get yalls opinion before I went and got it. Basically, it feels like my transmission slips out of gear occasionally. Its not a problem that keeps me from driving, but its just a pain in the ass when im on the freeway and i cant get the car past 40 because it wont switch gears right. what do you guys think the problem could be??

if it feels like your tranny is 'hunting' for gears (can't decide which gear it wants to stay in), then you may have a bad drum in your transmission.

you're an automatic tranny, not 5spd, right?

i had a similar problem with slippage and gear hunting, and it turned out to be my front drum (i think).....i'm an auto tranny.

but the speed sensor is much much cheaper, so try that first. if that solves the problem, then you got away cheap....otherwise you may have to overhaul your tranny.
