How much should I ask for my car?

How much should I ask for my car?

Postby DrLove » Sun Sep 06, 2009 3:31 pm

Hi guys!

I really like my 99 Solara but she start to get old a bit, so I want a new car. My fiancé and myself wants a 4 doors, we plan to get babies..

I would like to know how much should I ask and expect to get:

My car is a 1999 Solara V6 SE, white, leather, 16'' rims. 193000 km (120 000 miles) It's a salvage car, rebuilt in 2001. Rust on the rocker panel, few scratches, but the paint is shinny like new anywhere else. Leather is in good condition, the car is running smooth.

Lots of new parts: windshield, radiator, corner lights, chrome grill, brakes (4), battery, starter, spark plugs..

Alignement have been done, mags repaint in 2008, new Dunlop signature tires.

I paid $4K 2 years ago and put 2K$ on new parts.

I don't expect to get my money back.

I just wonder what's the value for my Lara. 4k$? 3K$? 2K$?

I live in Quebec, Canada, so guys from Canada can help me to guide me for this. I don't want to be a robber or be rob. hehe

Thanks!

BTW Im looking for a Mazda 6 2010.

not alot... your car is worth nothing to your everyday guy, well mybe 2gs, because of the rebuilt title your cars worth anything, not to be mean but thats sometimes how it is, people may not even consider your car because it has a rebuilt title.

I just bought a Lara for 4k in Montreal, 150,000km original owner. Seriously underpriced compared to the rest of the market honestly. Go on kijiji.ca and trader.ca to check out the prices. Also remember you're a private seller (rather than a dealership) so the buyer only pays provincial sales tax, advertise that to your advantage.

I don't think 4k is too much to ask honestly... You can always try

Like not sh!t. It depends... Highway mileage is a lot better on your car than city. But you could just say that couldn't you??? LOL Keep it, and give it to your "babies" when they grow up as a "hand me down"

It's sad how much our cars have depreciated, no wonder I see soo many on the roads now.

I need a new car ASAP :(

Hey I'm glad they did, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to afford such a beautiful car. Sure they're a pain to modify but as a daily driver I love it more every day for the smooth and quiet ride combined with a little more oomph than a 4 banger can deliver. Gen 1's are also 10+ years old, people generally don't like to buy a car that old... Their loss, my gain, Toyota FTW!

:o

Thanks for the infos, I dont expect to get with the sell, and I know that the title will make the car harder to sell, all depend how much Im asking. My friends knows how much care I gave to this car, so I hope that one will want it, so I will see my Lara sometimes..I know that I will miss 'her' hehe, it's stupid but this car is great, I wish I was in 1999 an buy it brand new and shinny! In Canada our cars get rusty so fast .. what a shame.

The other 99 that I saw to sale are between $4500 and $6500 CAN, for a V6 SE,or SLE. I guess that if I ask $3.5K I could get someting above 3k, and be happy with it.

I just wanna chance because I will need very soon a 4 doors, I want to buy my first 'new' car, because I can $$, and I want a to mod it.

Hi guys,

I need to remind u that I live in Canada, Quebec, 6 months of snow, ice, salt on the road, so rust is a normal situation for a 10 years old car.

Lot of cheap cars start to get rust after 4,5,6 years. The 2004 mazda 3 got rust after 3 years on the fenders.
For you guys in California, the only car with rust are on 'pimp my ride' but here tis common (but for sure people wants car without rust issue).

The car is automatic. I'm asking 3300$ CAN ( $ 2900 US) for now. The other cars are between 4500 and 6500, and I went on some blue book stuff, for canadian, and the asking price is 5000 to 6700$ CAN with my mileage. I guess that $3300 is a deal for someone who want a nice car on a very tight budget.

The car has Dunlop signature summer tire (bought this summer), and winter tires (1 winter) on 15'' rims. The car come with the LEGENDARY tinted taillights made by Latin (and the stock Gen1 taillights).

Im not in a rush, Im still negociate with 2 mazda dealers to get the best price. The first guy was asking more than the 'internet price' so ??? the second one is the biggest dealer of canada, with 100 cars in the showroom (inside), this one sell 6000 mazda by year, and hey said that they will beat the internet price by far..

The camry i4 SE also is interesting..but) is way to expensive here, about $90 month over the 6 i4 GS. (LE looks is to boring, SE has a kind of 'lip' all around that make the car less boring.. I dont really likes the other new toyota cars, they seems to be made for student girl and old mommy hihi)
