Some problems to fix in my solara

Some problems to fix in my solara

Postby __KINGPIN__ » Fri Jul 10, 2009 6:59 pm

i have a 1st gen v6 solara that i recently bought.

the car is good, just having some minor issues (will post pics later)

-right sideview mirror not working (have to manually adjust)

-the cover part of the sunroof seems to be stuck and not close fully (the sunroof is working good)

-windshield washer fluid resevoir is leaking (will probably get fixed by the dealer)

-engine light is on (dealer said it is minor, due to the evaporizer or something like that)

-little bit of fog on the headlights

also, i dont know if its just me, but only after 10-15 mins of driving, when i opened the hood, the engine seemed really hot.

 :drinking:

Yeah, heat under the hood is normal, You could do the washer mod to your hood, definatly helps to cool things down. Check your fuses for your power mirrors, and if by "fog" you mean yellowing, or hazing, then Meguiars Plastx will clear that up, but if its condensation in the headlight, you can evaporate it out by pulling out the bulb, and leaving it just barely in the headlight, there should a gap for air to escape. Then turn your headlights on the HIGHbeam for a few minutes. The water should be gone after about 5 mins. I learned this procedure when I didn't seal my headlights good after I painted my housings. They're sealed nice and tight now though. 8)

You get lots of washers and put them between the hinges and the hood (at the back of the hood, near the windshield) to raise it up, almost like a cowl type hood. The principle is directing air into the engine bay since the base of the windshield is a high pressure area. The air is forced to flow in from the base of the hood/bonnet more than there is flowing out.

I am the new owner of a 02 Solara and noticed how hot it would get under the hood after not much driving. Well, I am relieved that I'm not the only one experiencing this.

Fully open your sunroof, and look from the outside of the car, into the tracks, see if something fell in their.

do you guys have autozones in toronto? (idk never been there..) maybe take it there to get a free code check?
