Weirdest thing happened today

So I had the car all loaded and packed up today to move back to Augusta to start my rotations and I get in and try and crank it and the starter is not even clicking. Try again, nothing. First thing I thought of was battery, but all the lights were on and working and I had just driven that morning. I popped on the carputer to check the battery voltage and its a solid 12.4. So now I'm panicking cuz I got a 3 hour drive and I have to start work the next day, with no time to get it to a shop. So I pop the hood and check all the fuses for starter and ignition, they are all fine. Now I really start getting worried thinking some wires from the remote starter got messed up and I blew my ignition circuit. So I pull the fuse to the alarm unit and try again, still nothing. shitshitshitshitshit. Then I start thinking maybe the ECU or key is messed up and its not recognizing the transponder signal and I whip out my spare key. Still nothing. holymotherofgodnowimpanicking. Finally I go to check the gas cap. It was on there properly but I unscrew it and put it back on, and FINALLY the car starts up. Now I knew the gas cap not being on properly can throw a CEL but I didn't know it could keep the car from starting. And I filled gas YESTERDAY and drove away just fine, and this morning the car started fine as well. So basically I have no idea what or how it got messed up, but moral of the story is: if your starter refuses to even try and turn over the engine, check your gas cap 8)

Dang man.
Somethin' similiar happened to me, i was at the resturant wit the GF and some friends and it was a hot day, and my car wouldn't start, so i thought i was the battery cause i had saw calcium build-up on the positive terminal, which i thought was weird, cause i didn't dirve my car or had it parked outside when i was in Vietnam for 3 weeks.
So i pulled my car to the side, call my dad, and he said to rock the car backwards in P.
So i did, and bam the car started up fine. :-?
Freakin' Solara is givin' me trouble already....

check your starter again.

it may have gotten stuck, and you fiddling around with all the bits and peices of the car may have gotten it to move into a position where it could start again.

because it seems suspect to me that the car would start leaving the gas station with a crooked cap, but then not start later.

hope it works out for you.

Sometimes the position of the wheel can cause the ignition not to start. I always move the wheel left and right and it usually starts up after that.

Are you using the ethanol-added gas. Some people have had starting issues as well.
