Alarm Draining Battery

Alarm Draining Battery

Postby TexasSolara » Thu Jun 25, 2009 9:17 am

Hello! I have a 2001 Solara that has until this year been perfect. I've lately had some trouble with timing belt, leaking oil, and 2 sensors that have to be replaced for inspection. Just yesterday my alarm went off twice on its own. Last night it went off and did not turn itself off so neighbors towed the car (I live in the city). I've already spent a lot of money on repairs this year and am hoping someone can shed some light on the problem...

This is a shot in the dark, but what kind of shape is your battery in? On my 1998 RAV4 the alarm went off on its own like you described when the battery was on its last legs. A new battery fixed the problem. Good luck!

Your case (never happened before, no idea what's wrong) they were completely wrong, they could have gotten your phone number and warned you. Suggestion? Leave a transponder with your neighbor.

It's the people who do it all the time, and I mean every few days for a year, and know all about it - but won't fix it, or remove it, or leave a contact number on the car or anything. Around here, the cops don't do anything, and the tow trucks want payment and in advance and a release.

Standard practice these idiots:
1. alarm goes off for more than 6 hours without stopping, more than 10 times
2. ring bell, if no answer note on door
3. 2nd time - note on windshield
4. 3rd time - flat tire
5. 4th time - brick through windshield

After someone in the neighborhood found their windshield with a cinder block half-way through it, and a note taped to it "NEXT TIME IT BURNS", the number of alarm violations drops off pretty quickly.
