Fraying on Convertible Top

Fraying on Convertible Top

Postby PlayaDelReyDave » Mon May 25, 2009 9:50 pm

I have an '02 and there is a slight amount of fraying on the top where the convertible top meets the top of the front window. I took a few pics of it but don't know how to post them here. I no longer take it to the car wash (a potential culprit), and clean it regularly. Is there anyway to repair it, or tips to preserve what I still have?

i wouldnt ever use a automatic car wash. I ALWAYS hand wash my car (would you want a machine bathing you???. That is most likley what caused it. You might could get them to cut you a check for "tearing" your convertible top ;) My mother drove her 2003 ford winstar through a shell car wash (suposed to be nice) and it RIPPED off both of her windshield wipers, she simply showed it to the manager and he wrote out a 200 dollar check. It only costed her like 100 for the parts and i installed the new arms and what not.

Convertible Top...How do you repair small tears?

Postby PlayaDelReyDave » Tue May 26, 2009 6:15 am

Thing is, the tear is so small, they'd be unlikely to admit that it was the car wash that caused it. What I'm more interested in at this point is, how do you repair small tears to the top? Or do you?
