Airbag Light

Airbag Light

Postby rossman945 » Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:44 pm

Well I have a 99 solara V6 down here in Florida and this winter when it got cold, my airbag light would stay on after start. By cold, I mean like 40s and 50s in the morning. The other day, it turned on while driving and would come on and off randomly. Has anyone had similar problems, and is there anything I should watch out for. I'm going to get the code tested tomorrow. I think its just a bad sensor.

Thanks,

Ross

The light can be triggered by a several factors.Anything from the circuit under your seat malfunctioning to having a faulty deployment module in your column, or even the sensors themselves. either way, it is not
possible to pinpoint the issue without having the codes pulled. And most likely a dealer will have to pull them since most obd II scanners like those in auto zone will not do a thing in the sense of diagnosis.
I had to change the column module , in my case, and that cost about 300 just for the part.
Since your light is intermittent, i think that you either have a loose connection, or one of the above is occurring. GL.

Thanks guys, yeah Toyota wanted 35 bucks just to scan the code and I wasn't too crazy about that, I'll bring it buy Autozone and see what happenens, more than likely I will end back at Toyota.

might b e worth a shot.
