knock on bumps

Each time my car is over bumps, etc.. my car make a noise. It seems to come from the rear. SOund a bit metalic...very annoying and make the car sound older. I went for my rear caliper so the mechanic didn't repeair this problem. The mechanic and myself saw that one of the "lower suspension arm" seems loose. I can twist a little bit the passenger arm,but not the driver side arm..like if the bushing"suspension arm washer" was broken or something...Im not mechanic so sorry for my explanation.

Somebody already had this problem? is it expensive to change? dop I need to change the washer or all the arm?

thanks!

I have the same exact problem, changed the arms, you will have to eventually, the sound is still there, but not as bad now.

My mechanic looked at everything, and he thinks it is my Greddy exhaust that's banging. So, I'll take a look at that in a few days and see. maybe the exhaust hangers are worn, and are loose, allowing too much travel which then bangs the floor of the car.

Also check your strut mounts, if they are loose it will make the noise as well.
Geeks get it done, while Nerds whimper and call for mommie.

^I'll second sydemoid's notion for checking the rear strut mounts. Though it seems the arms may be your problem, strut mounts on our cars are also notorious for going bad.

No it's not the muffler, mine is in good shape and 2 mechanics checked for this. It's a mix of old anti-sway bar old bushing + a rear little arm that I forgot the name..it's a hin part and they said that it's not dangerous at all..for now I have biggger issue to resolve with my insurance who don't want to change my rear passenger berring after the hit and run on my car :( hehe.. I wonder how much it costs for the sway bar bushing ? I will look at that next spring. Now here it's getting cold..tomorrow there will be snow :o (I hope that it's an april fool lol) so I concentrate on my kitchen reno lol and the insurance stupid stuff.

thanks for our help.

the thinny bar is a "stabilizer bar link" ..I looked the camry repair manual :D so they said that the problem is the bushing on the stabilizer bar + change the stabilizer bar link...

is it expensive..how many hours of repair at the dealer?
