Wheel fitment...again!

Wheel fitment...again!

Postby Rob » Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:49 pm

I know this question has been beat to death already, but I searched and couldn't find an answer. Does having disc rear make a difference in wheel fitment? Right now my girlfriends Solara has some Lexus wheels, I believe they are GS300 or GS400, and I discovered after we got the car home that the wheels have Kragens spacers, and the tire sidewall rubs the strut slightly. I just don't want to have to buy another set of wheels and have to deal with spacing them. Thanks in advance,
Rob
PS, here is a link to what is on the car now

roll the fenders. or shave them
where many hate, few will love,
But for those who love,
they'll see what it's like to live.

The car is stock height, its not the outer fender that is causing the problem, its the fact that the inner sidewall rubs the strut.

A 5-10 mm spacer is your answer... 15mm is what I would use (but that may be too much for you). Sorry about the false information about the shaving or rolling of the fender but you are correct, no need to do that. Buy a 5-10mm spacer to be conservative, and a 15mm if you want the back to be closer to being flushed to your fender.

So unfortunately, you do have to space them... but that's not bad, buy spacers from H&R, KICS or Ichiban. And no, having rear disc or drums on the solara doesn't change anything from one another, that wheel is probably a +45-50 offset.

Good Luck
