ozone disinfecting/odor elimination

Just read a post where the sharper image ionic breeze was mentioned. I can vouch for the effectiveness of ozone. About a year ago I got a pro interior detailing as a gift and they performed an ozone treatment. All trace of mustiness and most importantly cigarette smoke was completely eliminated.

I am wondering if anyone has tried and had similar results by locking up one of those home units in their car overnight. I have read up a couple of DIY articles for building ozone generators but don't like the idea of ghetto rigging a 6,000+ volt transformer and having it arc in my car. The ionic breezes cost a grip. Found this cheap "ionic ball" on ebay. Think it will work? Or should I just go back to the detailing shop?

another, shadier looking option, no blower...

The effects only lasted for about a week for an overnight Ionic Breeze treatment...

The negative ion thing is only to enhance the qualities of the filter, but not to substitute it. Also, if the ionic purifier needs a blower, I think it's a rip off since the Ionic Breeze worked beautifully without one.

Yeah it isnt permanent, but it is better than covering it up with an air freshener.
