Premature Tire Wear on Lowered Lara
Back in the summer, I put on 18" Drag wheels on my Lara. They're wrapped in a set of all-season Falken 225/40/18's.
I also lowered her with Tein S springs, plus Tokico struts.
After I went in for my 5000 km (3000 mile) oil change, my mechanic pointed out that my tires were wearing down fast.
Damn, I wasn't even paying attention to the tread wear, because the tires were relatively new, but he was right! My tire tread on the front looked like they had 20,000 kms on them, not 5,000.
Has anyone else experienced this with a lowered car?
Is it a problem with the Falkens being a soft rubber? Perhaps it's because the tires are low profile? Or do you guys think it's because the car is lowered and its putting extra downward force on the wheels?
At this rate, I'm going to have to buy a brand new set of rubber after less than a year - that's crazy.
