So I had some guys work on my project retrofit and he basically F*CKED it up. He sprayed the headlights black. I wanted chrome so what he said he'll do is paint them silver. Should I have this guy paint them silver or go with the chrome which he said he'd charge me more for.

^^^agreed.

Unless you have really good shielding on your projector, the black housing will most likely help to avoid glare and light scattering. You could also paint the housing the color of your car and do something different.

i remember someone with the black painting on here saying it killed his light output. If he agreed in the beginning on chrome, hold him to it

I've been having the same problem. Getting those corners apart is such a hassle. I might send them to a retrofitter to have them disassembled, and then sent back to me so I can paint them the color of my car. I'm getting a quote now, so I'll keep you posted on the cost if you're interested.

the markers are easy as crap to take apart, the heat ur oven to like 350, let it heat up, then place the corners in there for like 7 seconds, enough for teh glue to melt/soften up then pry it apart with a screw driver....I did this when i removed the amber from the OEM corners.

i can pry them far enought to get the reflector out but, everytime i get near the end to completely remove the shield it snaps. I put them in the oven but the glue doesnt seem to soften.

^^^same here. I've busted 2 sets and I'm not going to spend the money to do it again. The glue in the corners is not the same as the OEM butyl used in the headlights, and doesn't respond as well to heat. I'll pay whomever can do this for me if they can offer a fair price and guarantee not to break them.

Good luck with those lights. I have a silver Solara and I dont know what color to make the headlights. I'm confused at this point and plan on matching the color to the gray color on the grill. Does anyone have pictures of gen 1.5 retrofitted lights so that I can get some ideas?

Here is the link to my cardomain with my original pics. I later had the interior painted all black but I can't seem to find any pics.

I was thinking about going with gray to match the grill. I figured it would match better with the silver. I'm not sure black would look good but I could be wrong. I've seen your retrofit before, its sick man. Out of curiosity, how much are you selling your headlights? I paid close to $1100 in total for this d*ck to f*ck it all up so now I'm pissed. Well let me know.
