debadging

i have debadged my previous cars but i dont want to mess up on this one whats the best way to do it? what do i need?

I recently did a partial debadge of my car. I used a hairdryer to soften up the adhesive and then a old plastic comb to separate the badge from the car. Next, I hit it with some extra strength Acetone to remove the remnants. Works a treat. check out the pics:

soft floss, and goo gone. like gangis said a hot day will help get it off. there are no holes for the gen 1s

Goo Gone didn't help me very much. In fact, it just made the remnants all orange. Acetone definitely did the job, though.

Acetone Is bad for your paint... goo gone works and a hair drier.. i still saw the outline on my car as well. and then i clay bared it helped

That's why you wash the acetone off right after it does its job.

It's been over a week now and the paint looks GREAT!

That outline is partially due to the paint fading because of the sun, not too much you can do about it but the clay bar DOES help a bit.

I used goo and clay bar and I have a little of an outline, partly cause i have a dark car i suppose.

you can use some paint cleaner or a not too strong rubbing compound that will get rid of those outlines after you debadge

my friend used to detail cars, hes gonna wet sand the lines and blend it all in the spring for me

I got the reminisces off with car wax. I wouldn't trust acetone either.

use heat, a plastic body filler spreader (any parts store just about carries them), roll the adhesive off with your thumb, wait til its warm and not hot (you could buy an eraser wheel that will fit a drill and take off the double sided tape, be careful though, if you sit in one spot too long it will burn through the paint). 3M makes an adhesive remover that will take off the residue and what ever else you didnt get with your thumb.

Really? Goo Gone worked perfect for me. I used a 35lb fishing line with a hair dryer and it worked great. Then i clay bared and waxed over the areas.

dont listen to this guy^^^^^ :lol:

like everyone else says... ALL you need is a hair dryer, floss (or fishing line) and goo-gone or any other adhesive remover... a quick wax over the spot the emblems were will get rid of any outlines.
