Security Key?

Security Key?

Postby dc3886 » Fri Sep 07, 2007 7:02 pm

I tried to search for info on this but didn't come up with much so maybe someone can help me. On my 2000 solara there is a circular hole that looks like it has tiny holes in it, it says toyota security next to it. Its by my cigarette lighter. What is the key called that goes in it? I bought my car repossessed so it didn't come with an owners manual. I'm waiting for a Haynes manual that I ordered online, but it seems it may never come so I figured I ask. :D

I'm clueless as to what it does, I was just told by someone it looked like a key hole.

I don't know what that is either, but the Haynes manual won't have it in there. I've got the Haynes and Toyota manual, but unfortunately I'm not home so I can't check the Toyota manual - it may be in there.

that little hole with holes in it, is a frequency sensor...it senses the frequency of the sound wave given off when glass breaks, its very distinctive..Want to test it out? leave the windows fully down....and lock the car, then smash a Snapple bottle as safe as u can, and as loud as u can near the car....make sure u dont do it TOO close...the alarm should go off...
