i was just wondering if anyone had painted their brake calipers? was it easy/ hard? approxametly how long did it take? what things would be needed to complete the job? i was thinking of painting mine that cool red color that u see on porche brakes. also, if anyone could post any pix of the final result, it would be great! Thanx in advance.

Yes, easy, lot's of patience...and plenty of time to let the coats of paint dry. Of course you will need a jack and etc...would be best to have jackstands so you can do two wheels at a time.

What you should do is thoroughly clean the brake caliper surface...preferably with a brush and running water...and some cleaner/degreaser if it's bad. Let it dry. Tape and mask off the areas you don't want overspray...especially on the disc surface itself. Make sure to use high temp paint of whatever color you plan to use....and spray in coats. Let each coat dry before applying another.

Mine are painted black.

how many coats did u apply?? and did u use a spray, or a paint that u have to actually brush on??

I used VHT paint and I have had a lot of look with them. I used several coats to do this and them after they dried I used a clear coat to protect them and it makes them shinny. If you complety remove the calipers becareful with brake fluid it eats up the paint and it is a pain.

I used the same paint and it turned out great. Pics are up on my sounddomain page.
