weird v6 auto transaxle problem

weird v6 auto transaxle problem

Postby ozzycat93@yahoo.com » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:05 pm

I have a 1999 Solara SLE V6 with an auto transaxle and it has a problem that i cant seem to find that anyone else has. On a flat road running in 4th gear at 40-47mph the tranny starts slipping and the car jerks, it only does it when at absolute constant speed and there is no change in the rpm. I have also turned :bad-words: off the O/D to help, but it still slips at 39-41mph at constant speed with the accelerator barley pressed or the cruise is on.
I really need to know what is going on, i have taken out some of the tranny fluid cause it was high and still the problem persists.

ok, I will look into it the plugs and wires condition, but why would it not happen at higher and lower speeds? it has never happened cruising on the highway at 60mph? reason i ask is i am about to replace the timing belt water pump hoses ect... and i dont have a lot of money to replace them unless i am sure

what color was the fluid in the trans you took out? I had an open wire on my coil packs arching that made my car buck at start up...look into that. End with the trans its the most expensive to fix :(

the fluid is only 4000 miles old, and it was normal color but a little murky. I have never had it buck at start up, but running on regular fuel, the exaust does smell funny...

Does it jerk or feel like a transmission slip with a slight loss of power?
