1MZ bucks, jerks, hesitates, shakes if letting off the gas.

I searched the forums, but didn't find a problem that was just like mine. Anyway, I just picked this car up last week and have noticed that the car drives fine as long as I'm accelerating. Once the car goes into deceleration (let foot off of the accelerator) or light cruise (barely tapping the accelerator) the car will buck, jerk, hesitate, whatever you want to call it, until I press the gas pedal again. I haven't done a thing to it yet, but I can tell that it may need spark plugs because it's not quick to crank up. Also noticed that the pedal is spongy and some reading suggests cleaning out the throttle body with fuel injection cleaner in the spray can. My only guess is motor mounts. Is there a particular one that's problematic? Has someone seen/experienced this issue before?

well if it has the 170k on it like in your sig, and you just got it? Do you know if they ever had a tune up lately? main things id do
Plugs
Wires
Air filter
Clean out throttle body
Run some sea foam through it before you change them plugs
Fuel Filter
Possible oil change

If it presists after that then look into it more.

id say motor mounts maybe my 4Runner does that when im stopped, it shakes and feels as if its going to stall, but then again motor mounts are shot and engine has a lot of movement.

id check transmission fluid also.
And if it was mine i would change the transmission fluid,
though there is some controversy about if it would help or hurt the transmission
to change the fluid with mileage over 150k.
and maybe just try driving with O/D off just to see what happens (since it wont cost any $ to do this).

Thanks for the comments, I will try them out and let you know what happens. This car was actually a family member's ride and I have all the service records. The car was taken to the dealer for everything, including oil changes. Just trying to go over the car and fix the bugs that it has. Noticed seat rocking on acceleration, constant vibrations while driving, pulling to the left, and the jerking-bucking problems.

yeah just check bolts on seat. i have the same problem with my passenger seat.

sounds like a few problems... sounds like alignment, maybe an injector has failed or spark plugs, if letting off the gas maybe some cylinders are either not igniting (dead plug) or too much gas (faulty injector) things too look for. My friend bought a used car, kinda similar situation. It was a 1995 civic and it had a faulty injector and 1 dead spark plug and the other 3 were in bad condition. the car was ROCKING! idle was not even achievable! hope that helps

This is similar to the problem im having with my 02 SLE V6, it can be any number of issues with the V6's complex and I really mean complex EVAP and compression,vacuum system. is the check engine light on? When you accelerate hard does it feel like the car is bucking? This what I have experienced, my mechanic and I are monitoring it. He told me it was a issue with the EVAP system, a sensor or something. One last question have you had your brake master replaced in the last 10K miles? My car has around the same miles as yours
