Tranny leak at the drive axle, whats ur exp.

So, the 2001 V6 A/T convertible Lara, the tranny is leaking and I am almost certain its from the drive axle seals or maybe the boot. I can not say for certain.

I want to know if you've had a similar issue and how much did it cost you or did you do it yourself and how successful was it in the long-run, either way.

I go through about a quart of A/T fluid every 3 months. I check it once every 2 weeks. The tranny runs fine and I've had no problems since I got this car almost 9 months ago.

The tranny shouldn't have to be removed to do what I think it needs but IDK whats your exp? And no it is not the pan.

Are your boots torn/visibly damaged and leaking? If not, it's likely the axle seals (cheap, but a bit of a pain to get to) or the tranny fluid pan (which can leak, so RTV it up good).

clean up the bottom of your car first to determine where the leak actually is

if it's the tranny pan, it's an easy fix- remove, rtv, and then replace and torque properly
if it's a boot, then it's an easy fix as well- buy new axle, pop out old axle, replace with new axle- it's not really worth the time or money to just fix the boot
if it's the driver's side axle, remove axle, replace seal, and then pop the axle back in

either way, you're lucky that you don't think it's the passenger side axle seal, as THAT is the hard side to replace
