Autotrans question...Going from Park to Drive

Autotrans question...Going from Park to Drive

Postby MetrowestLara » Wed Aug 25, 2010 11:59 am

I have a 1999 Gen 1 SLE V6 Solara with an automatic transmission. I noticed that when moving the gear shift from Park to Drive that it is very stiff. When it's in Drive I can push the gear shift lever forward and the indicator on the center console with almost go up to Neutral. I was wondering if guys with similar year cars experience the same thing. Is it possible I'm having transmission trouble or is it just the gear shift linkage being a little messed up. Appreciate any comments.

The lever needs to be adjusted.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

Thanks. I'm not much of a mechanic. Do you know how to do that and are you willing to share or point me to some instructions?
