A/C vent selector does not work

A/C vent selector does not work

Postby faintecho » Mon Aug 09, 2010 4:46 pm

Hello! - I have been reading around the forum and have found some very helpful and interesting information on my 1999 Toyota Solara but I could not find the answer to my problem.

The A/C in my car only blows out through the front vents. I try switching between vents and it does not change no matter which vent I select. I cannot change it to Front and Feet, Feet Only, Defrost, etc. The rear defrost seems to be working ok. I am really concerned with this issue since I am unable to defrost my windshield.

Any ideas of what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Side note: AC Panel does not light up when lights are turned on. (but rear defrost does light up) Fuse seems to be ok.

I tried checking the fuses (both under hood and under steering wheel) but cannot seem to find a problem. I did change one blown fuse (female 30a pink fuse) that was located under the steering wheel. I have no idea what this fuse is for since it is not mentioned in the diagram. Anyone know what this fuse does?

Thanks :)

i dont remeber if the vents are electronic controlled or vaccuum? it could be a number of things, but does sound like a faulty control head to me because it is going to default settings
