Car shakes when I let off gas on same gear

Car shakes when I let off gas on same gear

Postby mig0s » Thu Apr 29, 2010 5:38 pm

Hey y'all,

When I'm on my 2nd and 3rd gear, and when I let off the gas pedal, the car slows down and shakes (not too hard) and seems like it would stall, even with my RPM is still higher than 1000 (I'm not pressing the clutch). Then when I press on the gas again, the car would shake a little more until i'm constantly accelerating. Is this normal in manual cars or I've got a problem?

Thanks for your advises

i think thats normal, especially if you have a new clutch. RPM should not be less than 2 if you're moving.

i'm pretty sure that if you press the clutch pedal the shaking would stop... this tells you its not the wheels, its the clutch.

check your brake calipers. I just had the same issue recently (although my car is an auto). Let off the gas and the car started shaking, pulled over and got out and could smell the over heated brake lining. Drivers side caliper was sticking, badly.

Just a thought.

My brakes are practically new and no weird smells in my car or whatsoever. And yes I know that when I press the clutch it stops shaking. Hopefully it's just normal in manual transmissions.
Thanks for advises, i'll soon get the car thoroughly inspected and keep you guys updated
