How to replace hood lift struts?

I just got a 2000 solara and loves it. Yet it has two known problems: one with audio, and the other is the lift struts. I bought a pair of new struts and was trying to install them a couple days ago. However, I couldn't figure out how to remove the low end of the old strut from the frame. It doesn't look like there's some sort of pin or spring on it that can be easily removed. Can anyone tell me how to do it?
