Hey everyone

I was looking for some info on a 3mz-fe swap into my 2000 solara.
I can get my hands on one from a buddy but its paired to an auto tranny. Anyone know how dificult of a swap it is and how much a manual tranny would run me?

Dan

Still dont have a camera lol so no pics yet

If you want to run the complete 3MZ as is, you'll have to spend ridiculous amounts of time and money to get it to work properly. You can bolt up your 1MZ transmission I believe, but that unit is hard to find if you don't already have a 5 speed. You'll have to rewire a lot of stuff to get the swap to work. Good Luck.
Trust me, I'm a technician.

There's the 3M / 1MZ hybrid.
If you do the full 3MZFE swap you will need a harness and ECU, and rewire your gauge cluster i think.

If you do the 3MZ / 1MZ hybrid swap it will be cheaper i think.
Another benefit wit eh 3MZ / 1MZ hybrid swap is that if you find the TRD S/C you will be more HP out of the motor.
Even wit the 3MZ / 1MZ swap you'll gain more power compared to the 1MZ.

Even though the full 3MZFE would be bad arse cause of the VVt-i, it would be costly, unless you're up for the challenge.
I did think for awhile about a full 3MZFE swap.

Talk to "trd4life" about the 3MZ / 1MZ hybrid motor, he should be able to get you the hook up the motor build.

yeah you can do the 3mz block with the 1mz head, bolt up the s/c with no problem and you can still use the 1mz manual tranny. Talk to trd4life he actually has a few sets of complete manual transmissions real cheap so make sure if you do this to pick one up because these do not come around too often, and for the swap set up and see how difficult it is you can talk to gregtrd.

he has this set up in his camry, and his car is a beast.

if you do decide to go this way good luck and keep us posted on the updates.

Dan,

Gabe (trd4life) and Greg (gregtrd) are the men to talk to regarding what you want to do. If you really do have access to the motor, they've got the transmissions and can guide you towards what you want.
