shaving off emblems

Postby Sasebo » Sun Jan 03, 2010 10:08 pm

So I actually just did this myself today. I started out with getting some Adhesive remover, Dental Floss and a small towl.
I removed the Toyota symbol, took care of the left over adhesive with the solution and towl and it took awhile.
But before I moved on the the Solara emblem and top left Toyota, I noticed how the Toyota icon was rather shadowed in there and the residue was abit hard to remove around its outlines.
Its at that point I went over to Kragen and got some advise on it. Was told to get some polish.. pfft thats nice I guess afterwards but wont get rid of the shadow or small residue.
A guy noticed me out there in the parking lot dealing with it. Came right up to me and started offering advise and said he works at a body shop. Said he'd take care of it for me.
He went to his trunk grabed a friggen blow torch and heated up the emblems until then could be easily pulled off. Then got some clearcoat sand paper and lightly did the areas. Then grabed a clearcoat spray and sprayed the general area on the trunk, basicly the whole thing.
In the end it came out perfect. Looks like nothing was even there. No scratches, burns, scuffs, nothin. I tiped him and went on my way. Great experience.
I recomend taking it to someone with the perfect tools at a body shop who wont charge more than $30.
Ofcourse you could do this all yourself just fine if you have the stuff and know how. But I got help and it was great.
