New Clutch

New Clutch

Postby kenny4454 » Sat Dec 05, 2009 9:56 am

I just had a new clutch installed in a 2000 toyota solara 2.2 L. The clutch grabs very early in the pedal (close to the floorboard). I was wondering if this is adjustable. I have heard of "adjusting the clutch" but not sure really what that means or how it affects the friction spot in the clutch pedal. I am nervous that premature wear in the clutch may happen if the setting is not correct. Can someone please fill me in on this. If the clutch can be adjusted, can you please tell me how it is done? Any information is appreciated. Thank you

ought to be a threaded rod directly connected to the pedal that you can adjust. but on a hydraulic clutch like ours, you really shouldn't have to adjust it. it's not a cable clutch which regularly needs adjusting.

suspect that your old clutch was just that worn out and so your new one is working properly and you just need to retrain yourself. i know i had to retrain myself when i put in a new clutch a couple months ago!
