2000 Solara Traction Control/Engine Light Problem

Postby dkertis10 » Fri Nov 06, 2009 3:45 pm

Alright so I will just be driving along as usual, when my check engine light will come on. Then if i peel out, the traction control goes crazy for a few seconds and jerks the car around then disengages and leaves the traction control off light on. I took it to the mechanic and found my rear left break was grabbing so I thought this would end the issue. But sure enough, same thing keeps happeneing again and again, with the check engine light coming on and then the traction control turning off when I peel the tires. I just reset it and the traction control works perfect and stops me from peeling out, but as soon as the engine light comes on it's done. I'd really like to get this situation sorted out before I really need it in the snow, so any help is appreciated.

Has anyone ever head of this before or anything like it? Unfortunately I don't have the enginge codes from when I had it checked, but next time it happens I'll go to Autozone cause I've seen on here they scan it for free (if that's still the case).

I also was looking around ebay and found this-

I'd love to be able to spend $50 and fix this rather than take it into Toyota and spend a few hundred or even more to replace the whole traction control system.

Thanks,
Dan

it's not your traction control system. Check what the light is. Go to an autozone and get the code read and fix the code. On our toyotas whenever we get a check engine light our traction control shuts off to put less stress on the computers, motor, etc. So check your code and work from there. I found this out the hard way too lol.
are avalons supposed to be this fast?
