Caliper bracket rebuild question

Caliper bracket rebuild question

Hey all, my mother in law has an 02' sle vert, just put some new pads on the front and while at it looked for whatever was causing some break vibrations. Definitely a lot of wiggle in the anchor/guide pins, so I was wondering if anyone has documented rebuilding the bracket that they are on? Can they be removed and replaced with simple tools? Thanks

most times they just pull right out. if they are moving smoothly then there's nothing wrong, and it SHOULD have a little wiggle to them. if you're getting brake vibration, then turn/machine or replace the rotors. if you're getting uneven pad wear (at an angle, etc) then check the slider pins you mention.

Thanks. the top ones on both sides (one a little more than the other) definitely wiggle more than the bottom, is that normal? The mechanic who last touched it changed one rotor that got damaged from what I'm assuming was a sticking problem . My feeling is he just lube'd up the pins and stuck them back in. One of the bolts is almost totally stripped too, which is kinda iffy. The vibration/noise isn't constant upon braking..[/u]
