So I guess lara is jealous of my e30 project.... shes upset that shes not getting fixed anytime soon...

last night, after 4 hours of work on my e30 (cleaned, prepped, painted the first layer on my new valve cover, same thing for grills and some other things), I was driving home from Annapolis to Columbia. At a light on Rt. 2 some lady leans out her window to tell me all three of my tails are out.... f*ck. My state inspection isn't exactly... 'legal,' that's another story though... so I pull off in the nearest parking lot and proceed to dig though my fuse boxes with a flashlight and a pair of pliers for ten minutes before I find the right one. There was an auto zone right around the corner that I had been in earlier in the day for a supply run, and even though they were closed the guys working were kind enough to help me out. Got another fuse and replaced the bad one - Voila' right? No. Of course, I have a short somewhere now on my taillight circuit, 3 days before I have to drive down to school. Fantastic. So now, if I can't find the short and fix it myself *doubtful since tracing electrical problems sucks nuts* I have to take it into the dealership to get fixed. This presents a whole new problem though, since my inspection isn't really valid. Thus, I would need to get a state inspection while the car was in the shop... and I need brakes and wipers too to do that. Long day..
/end rant.

So fella's - anyone have any bright ideas on where to check first? Is there a relay in the trunk on the left (rear drivers) side? If so, it rained heavily yesterday and my qp is damaged... moister could have gotten in there...

yeah, if you have a damaged qp, then i'm guessing that it's part of the culprit.

i honestly don't know much about chassis wiring, so i can't really help you beyond that....but if you changed the fuse and it's not the bulb, then it means you're catching a short somewhere....and the likely candidate is under the damage.

good luck man

yeah, thats what i figured. But the thing is, the car was hit in the same spot previously without any issues. And it's worked well in inclimate weather as well up until last night... i hate electrical problems
