I had the same problem with my 5 speed. Unplug the connector from the switch and get a paper clip. Bridge the connector with the two ends of the paper clip and put the transmission into reverse. If the reverse lights come on it's a bad switch. I replaced the crush washer 90430-18008 it's the same washer used on the transmission drain and fill plugs.
