Need a side view mirror.

Need a side view mirror.

Postby MountainDude » Thu Jul 16, 2009 8:32 pm

I hope someone can help me.

My driver side view mirror is broken. It was glued with some sort of white glue to a plastic mount, which is moved by the motor. The plastic mount is fine and the motor moves, so all I really need is the mirror. Any suggestions for the fix would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What about this?

Yeah, I looked on e-bay and could not find anything I liked. I cannot find any at the local junkyards. Toyota dealer wants $270 for replacing the whole assembly, since they don't sell just the mirror.

What about this: I go to a glass shop and have them cut a piece of mirror (the same size as the right side, but a mirror image of it). Then I remove all the broken mirror pieces and use epoxy to glue the new mirror onto the mounting bracket?

That would work, But it would be cheaper just to go to a junkyard, and find one there.

Got it done

A local glass shop cut a piece of mirror to match my car, and glued it onto the mounting bracket in about 2 min. Altogether it was $30.
