i have a 4 cyl 2000 solara. i have that annoying thing where u have to hold it near the ignition to start the car. i was wondering why sometimes the car doesnt start. is it because of that security thing, the battery?, or sparks plug or anything? can someone help? soemtime i have to turn the key couple time before it starts.

Could be plugs.. or it could be many other things. Whens the last time you changed the plugs?

search starter contacts on here and on toyotanation, see if that's the problem you're experiencing. I'm actually just picked up the starter contacts today and will be repacling it soon.
