Someone call me? Basically all plastics degrade--the plasticizers that aid in keeping the plastic flowable during molding begins to either breakdown, exude (seep out) or both. The heat stabilizers (heat fighters) and UV additives also breakdown--this also causes yellowing and hazing. (BTW: Ultraviolet rays are thee worst enemy for plastics.) Over time hazing and discoloration happens to all plastics but it's just easier to see on CLEAR plastics. Although I sound like a chem nerd I don't mean to sound like a commercial but PlastX wax is great stuff. It does two things from what I can see: it cleans haze from the surface and fills in scratches to make them "optically" disappear. However, like wax, it's not permanent and the filler will degrade overtime and the scratches will reappear and PlastX needs to be reapplied.
