I took my car to a friends shop and he did alot of work for my ride
3 rear spark plugs
trd sway bar install
all 4 wheelbearings and hubs
charcoal canister
lower ball joint
engine mount install
rear emergency brake shoes
He did not charge me for the simple stuff like upper engine mount and tranny bracket, and spark plugs cuz he knew i could have done those by my self
but i also paid
$1420 for all of this
870 for parts and 550 for labor do you guys think its lagit? I mean when he changes my cuzins rotor both front back and pads he only charged him like 60 bucks so idk. Or maybe im being cheap but hey im a full time college student aswell but i think im just too attached to my ride especially if it has this many problems and more too come i am planning on getting my suspension changes cuz my shocks are shot?

Sounds 'bout right. Bearings and charcoal canisters themselves are about $600. Labor isn't too bad. 10 hours labor?

Hell yeah you got a deal!!!

My front wheel bearings alone was $400.
I did my own TRD RSB, plugs, brake pads, and struts install myself. I think I saved myself around 6-$700 or so.
Im about to save some more money too, by reassembling my front end. Just got my new bumper and custom grill back from paint. Along with new, Tein S-Tech springs, headlamps, corners, and LED turn signals.

Good luck to ya, especially payin that shop bill. 8)

An itemized receipt is a complete breakdown of the cost of each part and the labor cost for that part.

Well at about $55 bucks an hour for 10 hours of work. We'll say about 2 hours for each job (give or take).
Labor IS expensive. Just to give you an idea of the price of labor (although price varies from shop to shop), it cost me $400 and change to do a clutch and flywheel recently (though I doubt the flywheel was serviced at all). I don't remember the specifics but I remember the price labor to be about half of the total price including parts.

I don't know why, but it really hits me funny when labor costs more than parts. I mean I understand FULLY the reason for it being the price it is but it never sits right with me for some reason.

For example, a hypothetical situation: you need to replace a $50 part, the labor for said part would cost $300. Obviously it's alot of work to get to the part and service it, but doesn't it just kick you funny? That the ratio of parts:labor price is off like that? I'd rather they be 1:1, but in the real world price is determined by many factors. I fully respect the reason for the price but it's probably because I'm a numbers person that it irks me funny.

Anyway...back on topic.
