Fuel injection cleaning

Fuel injection cleaning

Postby rossman945 » Sat Nov 15, 2008 11:22 am

I was at tiresplus the other day and they said I need a fuel system cleaning, fuel injector cleaning etc. The car has 110000 miles and it hasn't been done but the cars running fine, should I just get something from advanced auto parts, dump it in the tank and call it a day? Whatever their going to do I dont think it will be worth 70 bucks. Any opinions would be great.

Thanks,

Ross

It depends on the shop, but fuel system "Injecter flush" IE: hooking a flush machine to the fuel rail and pull the fuel pump relay out and run the vehicle off of the "fuel flush" for about 15-30 mins. Some just clean the throttle body and spray the rest of the can into the intake. and $70 is cheap for a "flush"

Don't buy those stupid fuel injector cleaner bottles.. they may help a little... but nothing compares to pulling the fuel rails off and hand cleaning the injectors.

yeah, well I have a intake on my car and dont want them messing with it, besides I have cleaned my throttle body before, its not bad. Actually flushing the rail and injectors seems more benefical and is beyond my preventative maintenace capabilities. I figured dumping some stuff in the fuel tank will do just the same job.

well I'm starting to sense a concensus here, I guess I'll get it done the right way and get some estimates.

In nearby shopping center they use throttle body cleaner and a fluid they put thru brake booster...I can do this at home (read SeaFoam). How much should they charge for this machine clean directly in the fuel rails?

Wow, how much would they charge for hand cleaning the injectors?
