a/c light flashes when driving through water

a/c light flashes when driving through water

Thanks to fay I have had no choice this past week in doing some water fording. When I hit a patch of water (2-4" deep), about 15 mph, the a/c shuts down and the green a/c led blinks. When I get out and drive a few hundred feet, I can use the a/c again. Anyone ever see this or have more info on it?

Water is obiously hitting something it shouldnt be....Maybe check all your harnesses at the compressor...make sure they're water tight.

I dont know about the Solara but I drove my old s10 blazer through a huge puddle.. knocked my serpintine belt out of alignment so I lost power steering, and everything that belt controls for a few moments afterwards.

I think on the Solara there is an accessory belt or something like that. May have knocked it around untill it got back where it was supposed to be.

FYI this may not be what have happened at all...

Its just the belt getting wet and not being able to spin the compressor. When that happen the sensor picks that up and blinks the AC light. As soon as it picks up the compressor spinning at the correct rate it kicks your ac back on. Also happens when your AC runs so cold or too low on level that it will do that as a precaution to itself.

There are no shorting of any kind.
