O2 Sensor PO135

O2 Sensor PO135

Postby Sap Z » Wed Jun 25, 2008 6:41 am

Hey guys - Its been forever since I've been on here.

I'm looking for some help. I've used the search function but had no luck.

My check engine light had been on so I got it checked my autozone for free. It came back with the O2 sensor code so i bought a bosch and for it swtiched out.

The light came back on the next day, and it gave a diff code this time ( don't remember what it is).But it basically said that either the fuse was bad or the wiring was bad etc

So i got another new sensor thinking it was a bad part and same thing again.

I need help. any ideas?
Thanks!

1) Your V6 has two upstream sensors front and back. Did you replace the correct one? (if one fails, the second is not far behind, i recommend doing both)
2) If your car is CA emissions compliant (pre-cats) you need air/fuel sensors, not O2 sensors.
3) Bosch sucks, go with denso.

im petty sure that cali spec.(precat) is o2 sensor
and fed. spec (no precats)is air/fuel.

most 1999 and up toyota's are air/fuel sensors

CA is not the windy city... based on OP's location.

I had the po135, Autozone told me it was the front sensor...Replaced it and the light came back on...Then I did more research and found out that po135 is the back sensor close to the firewall. Changed it and voila. I used bosch sensors and they work just fine.

*Edit: it pays to read ALL the posts completely - geeze...
yes, P0135 is rear sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 1) and P0136 is front sensor (Bank 1 Sensor 2)

ok,
P0135 = rear sensor (between firewall and engine block). it's functionally similar to the o2 sensor that is right in the front of the engine bay (the easily acceable one).

if fed spec then it's o2 sensor, if cali-spec then it's an A/F sensor (i'm almost positive on this one, gregtrd)

bosch is hit or miss with the solara's. it's best to stay with denso as the brand. from the sound of the second code being thrown (diff code, diff symtoms), i'm guessing the car didnt like the bosch wiring or configuration or something. if you changed the correct sensor, and the wiring on the sensor looked good, then try unplugging the battery for another 10 minutes and see if the problem comes back. if you get the second (newer) code again, then you are going to want to buy denso sensors instead of bosch.

You are 100% right.

Also, you don't have to be in CA to have CA spec emissions. I bought my Solara in New York. Sucks that I had to pay for the more expensive a/f sensors when they "expired".

My writeup...
