weird grinding sound???

Postby woa_its_j3ff » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:35 pm

Okay this just happened today, it sounds like a weird grinding sound, scraping to be more exact, and its coming from the rear. I look under the car but there is nothing loose so I dont knwo what the deal is,. the only recent stuff I did was change my rear rotors, front pads, etc.. and I check those today and everything seems fine, what can be the problem??
Oh I put on rear spacers too but thats not a rubbing sound I'm hearing so.. and they are on tight..

When does it grind? While breaking or just crusing?

Does it increase when you drive faster or is it constant.

i know what it is, take the tire off the side that you hear scraping, theres a shield that gos around the rotor make sure its not rubbing on the rotor, just use your hand and bent it away from the rotor, im pretty sure that your problem,

since you said that you replaced the rotors, sometimes that shield might get bent enougn to scape the rotor, the way you describe the sound thats what i suspect.

Make sure your rear sway bar is lubed.

I checked the shields they both seemed fine I didnt see any bendage of any kind but it surely sounds like it comes from the rear wheels and its not rubbing and nothing is cambered..

its very odd..
and I THINK .. it only happens when im slowing down from like 10 mph to a stop. OR when i turn really slow in a parking lot, and thats only sometimes too. not everytime.
